In this post, we’ll review the short history and what’s good on the menu so you’ll know what to expect and have a deeper appreciation for this place before you go!

How It All Started

brazil flag waving on a flag poleCafé do Brasil first opened its doors in 1994 in a Victorian Building. The owner wanted to capture the spirit of Brazil in their restaurant: bright, lively and full of energy.

By doing so, they created a place where customers could experience the flavor and feeling of their country. She decided to decorate the room with vibrant Brazilian folk art, in order to pay homage to their culture & values.

The dual colors of yellow & green, which are found on the Brazil flag were also considered when designing this room. The atmosphere was further enhanced by playing some music in the background. Moreover, their menu was carefully curated to incorporate items that would evoke memories of the owner’s home country while also providing customers with a taste of its culture.

With so many positive reviews the restaurant was getting, the owner noticed an increase in their restaurant’s popularity in 2005. They moved to the core of Oklahoma City’s Midtown, becoming one of the pioneers in the district.
