The Paseo Arts District

The Paseo District is a vibrant neighborhood in Oklahoma City that is home to a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants. Built in 1929, the Paseo Arts District is a creative enclave and the first shopping district close to downtown.

Originally called the Spanish Village, the Paseo is comprised of a walkable curved two-block street of Spanish revival architecture with stunning stucco buildings. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this place forms a unique hub for arts in the city, being home to over 20 galleries and more than 80 artists.

The Paseo has seen many changes since the mid-1950s. It used to have the Paseo Plunge, a dry cleaner, a drug store, a shoe repair store, and restaurants. However, it has been redeveloped since the 1980s and is now thriving with a strong merchant association, acclaimed restaurants, unique boutiques, and neighborhood support. You should visit the area to see the original Spanish revival architecture and feel the vibrant energy of this growing cultural destination!

The Artists and Entertainment

The First Friday Gallery Walk is a great way to experience all that the district has to offer. The event takes place on the first Friday of every month, rain or shine, and features displays from over 80 artists. Paseo galleries also offer refreshments and live music entertainment, making it a fun and family-friendly atmosphere. So if you’re looking for something to do on date night, be sure to check out the First Friday Gallery Walk.

You can check out the other events on the Paseo calendar here.
