History of the Wheeler District
In 2005, the Downtown Airpark went bankrupt and was purchased in an open auction in 2006. However, we did not see any great changes until 2014 when the public charter was initiated to understand the community needs and created a district based on their vision.
While being a multi-decade project, the Wheeler district has come a long way and is already quite a bustling area that is enjoyed by many families. Covering more than 150 acres, the area has great potential and can easily become one of the biggest achievements in the OKC.
Now in 2023, we’re seeing many more homes and businesses being built, along with an elementary school in the works.
Our Conclusion:Â
The Wheeler District in Oklahoma City is a vibrant and thriving community that offers something for everyone. From its unique mix of local businesses to its vibrant scenery and evolving attractions, there is always something new to discover.
Whether you’re a resident of the area or just visiting for the day, the Wheeler District is a must-see destination that should not be missed.
