About the Golf Courses at Lake Hefner

The Lake Hefner North Course is a championship 18-hole course that stretches over 6,700 yards from the black tees. Designed by golf course architect, Randy Heckenkemper, the course features wide fairways, challenging water hazards, and scenic views of Lake Hefner. Golfers will also encounter strategically placed bunkers and trees, as well as several dogleg holes that require accurate shot placement. This course has a rating of 73.8.

The South Course on Lake Hefner is also an 18-hole course, and is just over 6,300 yards from its blue tees. Designed by golf course architect Floyd Farley, the course features a mix of tree-lined fairways, water hazards, and rolling terrain. The South Course also offers beautiful views of Lake Hefner, as well as several challenging holes that require precision shot-making. This course has a rating of 70.5.

The Lighthouse

The lighthouse may the the most iconic symbol of Lake Hefner, and undoubtedly the single most photographed thing at the Lake (especially during sunset).

It was built in the 1999 and stands 40 feet tall. It’s located on the east side and provides an important landmark for boaters and sailors on the lake.

You can get to the lighthouse by entering the East Wharf area when you come from Britton Road.

Location and Parking

Lake Hefner is located in Northwest Oklahoma City. It is situated between North MacArthur Boulevard on the east and North Portland Avenue on the west. The lake is bordered by Hefner Road on the north and Northwest Expressway on the south.

There are several parking areas around Lake Hefner that visitors can use to access the various recreational activities and amenities available at the lake, but the most popular parking area where you’ll find the restaurants is located at the East Wharf on the East side of the lake, accessible by entering through Britton Road.

Lake Hefner Park Hours

The times for the Lake Hefner Parks differ depending on the season and day of the week. Hefner Park and Stars & Stripes Park are open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Visitors can use the Lake Hefner Trails until sundown daily, while fishing docks and Piers are available 24 hours a day.
