In addition to the bed and breakfast experience, Guthrie itself is a town steeped in history and culture, with many museums, art galleries, and theaters to explore!

The Beginning

Gary and Martha were childhood friends from Oklahoma City who tied the knot in 1979. Having shared more than 38 years of marriage and friendship, they aim to inspire and reinforce the bonds of love and marriage for their guests.

In 1989, the couple purchased the historic home of Dr. Ruhl and established the Arcadian Inn in 1990, located beside the University of Central Oklahoma in downtown Edmond. Initially, it featured five rooms, which eventually expanded to eight. The Arcadian Inn received numerous accolades, including being named Reader’s Choice #1 Bed and Breakfast for 16 consecutive years.

After over 25 years of hospitality, the Arcadian Inn ceased operations in 2016. Nevertheless, Gary and Martha’s hospitality persist as they have relocated to their country location, previously known as Aaron’s Gate, now called Arcadian Getaways.

Cottages to Suit

The country bed and breakfast provides three distinctive private guest cottages, each designed for couples – Meadowlark Barn, Parrot’s Cove, and French Hen. You can fulfill your desire for a Parisian castle experience by booking the French Hen cottage, which is adorned with deep reds, caramel hues, and black accents.

If you prefer an English countryside ambiance, the Meadowlark Barn is the ideal choice, featuring stunning views from the attached silo and a loft bedroom. For a more tropical island getaway, Parrot’s Cove is the perfect selection, complete with lush island colors, palm trees, and a private indoor Jacuzzi for two.

Amenities

Each cottage is equipped with lavish king-size canopy beds, European-style spa showers, gas fireplaces, fully furnished kitchens, deluxe linens, and a Satellite 42 in. LCD TV/DVD. Some of the cottages even offer screened Hot Tub Porches! Moreover, guests can indulge in additional luxury and relaxation, such as complimentary robes and slippers, homemade cookies, coffee, bottled water, and snacks.

To enhance your experience and create a romantic atmosphere, consider purchasing an extra package, such as the Red Dirt Romance Package, which includes chocolate-covered strawberries with almond cheesecake dipping sauce, silk rose petals scattered on your bed, a free bottle of champagne, and two keepsake flutes. Other add-ons include the massage for couples in the cottage, a picnic dinner basket designed for two, or a Milk ‘n’ Honey Champagne Bath.

Arcadian Getaways is situated in a location where there are numerous activities to engage in. Nearby, there is the historic Guthrie that offers restaurants, music festivals, antiques, and museums, as well as the Lazy E Arena.

A short 15-minute drive to the south, guests can go to the UCO Jazz Lab, on the Arcadia Lake, and enjoy great shopping, restaurants, and spas, located in Edmond.

Just slightly further into Oklahoma City (approximately 25 minutes), you’ll find other popular attractions such as the Cowboy Museum, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, Bricktown, Thunder games, along many other sites and restaurants.
