In this article, we’ll give you an overview of what to expect during your stay at this award-winning hotel; as well as what to do, what to see, and where to eat in the area.
A Brief History
Situated in a renowned building from the midtown area, the Ambassador Hotel is an integral part of OKC. This unique and well-known hotel is located inside the Art Deco designed “U” shaped building.
The construction of the building occurred over three phases. In 1928, the first stage of construction was completed, which encompassed the initial 3 floors. The subsequent year, the following stage concluded with the finalization of the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors; and in 1946, the 7th and final floor was eventually added.
From its inception until 1965, the building functioned as office space for medical professionals such as an allergy clinic, dentists, and physicians that had affiliations with OU Medical School.
The building, still holding to its original historical name, is called the “Osler” Building, and was named after Sir William Osler who was the prominent physician responsible for the inception of the medical residency program that was created there.
Fast forward to 2011 when the present-day developers took possession of the building and turned it into the elegant hotel you see today. It officially opened for business in March of 2014.
