Central Oklahoma is one of the few places in the world that you can find Rose Rocks natively.  Designated as the official state rock of Oklahoma in 1968, this rock is actually an aggregate of barite and sand that was formed into the resemblance of a rose millions of years ago.

And perhaps they make the perfect Oklahoma souvenir!  If you’re wondering where you can buy Rose Rocks in the Oklahoma City area, check out some of the local places below.

Where to Buy Rose Rocks in Oklahoma City

1. Good Earth Rocks

I went to this place for the first time a few weeks ago in Automobile Alley, and spent far too much time looking at all the shimmery rocks.  One thing that didn’t disappoint was the rose rocks, which I admittedly couldn’t leave without buying a few.  You’ll find varying sizes and assortments, and they have different options for any budget.

2. Blue Seven

A young man by the name of Judah gathers Oklahoma Rose Rocks and sells them at Blue Seven.  With the help of his dad, Judah started selling Rose Rocks as a way to learn about business and entrepreneurship.  You can visit the store, or even order some from the online store.  Check out Judah’s Rose Rocks that you can purchase at Blue Seven here.

3. Craig’s Curious Emporium

Craig’s Emporium has a vast array of gemstones, rocks, crystals, along with anything else you can image.  While you’re here grabbing a rose rock, be sure to check out some of the other cool items they have.  The staff is friendly and it’s guaranteed to be an experience.

4. National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum Gift Shop

I’m told you can still buy Rose Rocks inside the gift shop at the Cowboy Museum.  It’s also worth a trip if you enjoy art and history.

If you don’t mind taking a little drive outside of town, here are a few more options to find yourself some genuine Oklahoma Rose Rocks.

5. Timberlake Rose Rock Museum – Noble, OK

Founded by Joe and Nancy Stine in 1986, the Timberlake Rose Rock Museum gives those interested in the Oklahoma native rock an opportunity to learn and see this amazing rock in all its forms.  Not only will you get a chance to see such an astounding collection, but you’ll be able to buy some to add to your own collection.  While you’re there, be sure to ask lots of questions, and I bet you’ll even get some tips on where you can go digging for your own.
